4th quarter grades

I received their report cards in the mail yesterday. They both did very well with Phil getting all As and 1 B (an 87) and Jeff having 4 As and 3 Bs (but all in the upper 80s). We also received their standardized testing scores, you know those state tests they must take every year now. Phil met the standard (in the high range) in English, Math, and Reading and exceeded the standard in both Science and Social Studies. Just a sidebar - I was told by another mother that the social studies portion of the testing needed to be excluded from the reporting for our school this year because 66% of the students failed that portion. During our conversation (and not knowing Phil's score at the time) I said, well what about the other 34%? Guess what, Phil was in that 34% so congratulations to him! As for Jeff, he met the standard for only Reading and exceeded the standard in all others: english, math, science, and social studies!

What a great year. They've worked so hard and are very happy that summer has finally arrived. Congratulations to both of them!

Update

Well it's been a few days since I've updated the blog so figured it was time to do so. Since Friday we've been to visit Grandma in NC (Fri-Sun), Sunday we went to the pool for a few hours, and Monday, Memorial Day we hung out at the pool after lil Phil and I went to see Narnia then ate shish-kabobs that night for dinner..YUMMY! Tuesday it was back to the grind (work-wise) and the boys are hanging out with me for the summer...yea, their last day of school was this past Friday.
Yesterday after work we ran a few errands b/c I am making hats for Michelle and I for the concert that is exactly 1 WEEK FROM TODAY, WOOHOO! I'll take pictures of them once I'm done. Right now I've added the lei flowers around the edges and I still need to paint a fin, a palm tree, and maybe a hibiscus flower...I also want to add some wording like "we are the people" or "year of still here" (that's the name of the tour)...suggestions are welcome!
Think that's about it for now. We have our "date night" on Saturday and are trying to get a few couples together to have some adult time but not sure it's going to work out. That's the problem with planning at the last minute! :-) If it doesn't work out we'll just be drinking alone, no harm in that, right!?
Ciao for now!

Phil's graduation

What a great ceremony this morning. You will be very proud of me, I didn't cry! Actually there was one part of the morning where a presenter (and mom) started to cry and I'm like, damn it woman! My eyes swelled but nothing dropped so technically I didn't cry! WOOHOO...Here are some pics of the morning (just an FYI for the last pictures - Justin wanted me to take "mug shots" of him LOL). I've got video too but obviously am technology handicapped as to HOW to add it still.

Lacrosse Tournament

PHEW, What a weekend! Jeff had his big end of season lacrosse tournament at Stone Mountain this past weekend so Friday after work was spent grocery shopping and buying a new canopy tent. We left the house at 7AM on Saturday morning for a 9AM game (had to be there by 8:30). After the 9AM he played a 1pm (U-9) and a 5pm game as well. Jeff had an assist in the 5pm game and it was really neck in neck but b/c of poor ref'ing (they actually argued w/each other for over 2 minutes on the field and didn't stop the clock!) we lost by 1 point...SO aggrevating! The weather was gorgeous but I now look like a raccoon again b/c I wore my sunglasses all weekend!

Sunday was even hotter but thankfully we only had 1 game...we were loosing 6-1 at the half and yes, Jeff scored that 1 goal! We came back in the second half but still came up short, losing the game 7-4...BUT, great news! Jeff ended up with a hat trick that game! Yes, he scored 3 of the 4 goals! WOOHOO...he's awesome and he's come SO far this season...yes...I'm a proud mama!
So after the game we came home and took the boys to the pool with Michelle, Chad, Drew, and Ben (Jeff's friend)....it was freezing! The wind had really picked up and it was COLD! We decided after an hour or so that we'd had enough, went home, then out to dinner at Chepes (mexican) with the other family...YUMMY...the end LOL...here's some pictures from the tournament:
Ben is in the red shoes!
Look at how big those guys are compared to Jeff (#13!)

Phil's 5th grade party at Stars & Strikes

Phil had a great end of year (end of elementary school) 5th grade party at Stars & Strikes http://www.starsandstrikes.com/ yesterday afternoon. We were there from about 3:15 to almost 6! Here are some pictures of Phil and the gang!

Left to right - Justin, "lil" Phil, Alexander, and Levi
FYI - Phil told me NOT to take this picture b/c he was holding a pink gun! LOL

And for all that are interested - Phil and Jeff are getting their hair cut this weekend and have been preparing! :-)

Mother's Day

I had a great mother's day! We couldn't decide whether to go to the botanical gardens, the zoo, or do something else. While Phil was mowing the lawn I was reading the local magazine and found a blurb about a state park near our house and suggested we go hiking. When Phil got back from the gym (yes, after he mowed, edged, and trimmed the yard he went to the gym!) we headed for Amicalola Falls. Holy cow it was GORGEOUS...now when we went into the visitor's center we were told by one of the guides to go up the "easy" route and come back down the stairs...yea well of course we got off course and ended up walking UP the 604...yes, you read the right...604 STAIRS! I about died! and I'm not talking spread out, gradual incline, I'm talking steps UP...but the results were so worth almost passing out. Check out the amazing pictures Phil took below...and yes, that's a snake. I think it's called at Rat Snake but I could be wrong...thanks guys for the fantastic mom's day! Oh, have to mention before the pictures that when we got home I was served a steak dinner with broccoli and baked potato and we had apple pie a la mode for dessert! YUMMY!
