family pictures

Last week while visiting mom and dad, mom was able to take a couple of family pictures for us. Believe it or not we've been married for 11 years (12 this August) and have NEVER had a family picture taken! Well here ya go!

Sad News

We've had some sad news recently with the passing of Phil's Grandmom in New Jersey. She went into the hospital on January 2nd for a knee replacement surgery and we lost her on Sunday, January 20th. Thanks to everyone for their kind words, support, and help along the way. Last week was very rough.

Bragging rights!

ok ladies and gents...I have bragging rights once again! The boys came home from school on Monday with their report cards...Jeff got straight A's and Phil had all A's and 1 B! How awesome is that!? Mom and I are stumped as to where they inherited it from but Phil and I are proud nonetheless! Way to go boys! We'll be taking them out to get something special this weekend.

Finished Island

Here are the final pictures of the island. From the pictures it looks almost like distress brown leather but in person it's actually black with almost a bronzy undertone where it's been antiqued. It's gorgeous and I wish you could get the full effect through pictures. Oh well, guess you have to come visit! :-)

Kitchen island

A few of you didn't know that the island was on our "to do" list. Here's the first stage. You can see in the first pic I attached that the island was never painted. This is why! I wanted to paint it to look like our barstools which you can see are a very dark woodgrain. Sarah, my artist, thought it might be best to paint it to look antique black which she'll finish tomorrow...it's going to look fabulous! I can't wait!

Bookshelves w/STUFF

OK, I had to take some final pictures of the bookcases. I just LOVE them! Here they are with "stuff", which I need more of!
