Phil's lacrosse weekend in Towson, MD - We set out last Wednesday around 2pm (I can't believe it's been over a week already) to Maryland. We drove as far as Roanoke and stayed at a rediculously overpriced Courtyard that even charged us for the continental breakfast they had laid out the next morning! We got to mom/dad's house around 3 after stopping by mom's work to say hey. That night we hung out, ate taco salad, and watched a movie. Friday, after mom and Phil went to the gym, the four of us headed to LaxWorld in Towson to get Phil's stick fixed then we joined the team to visit the USLacrosse Hall of Fame. Pretty small but still a cool place to say you went. The kids hung out by the Hopkins field for a little while after that then we headed to the hotel where Phil would spend his weekend with the rest of the team. Since it was rainy and nasty out they decided to change practice venues to one indoors and asked that the parents NOT go...don't have to tell us twice. The three of us headed back to mom/dad's house and then out for what we thought were going to be crabs...HA! The crabs with any size were considered "jumbo" and cost $66 a DOZEN..yes, you read that right. Umm, next! Needless to say we did not have crabs that evening.
The next morning we headed out for the 1st of what would end up being a six game weekend. They played Damascus (won 7-2), Joppatown (won 4-0), and the MLC (won 5-3) on Saturday. After a full day of games Phil, me, Jeff, mom, dad, Theresa, Kinsley, and Kate (later on) made our way back to the house for steak! Delicious!
On to Sunday for the playoffs...they beat Salisbury in OT (4-3), then Havre De Grace (2-0), and lost to Beach-Ocean City (5-0) in the finals. Everyone was so proud of the way these boys played. For one, they only practice once a week, if that, AND they played northern teams where lax has been around for ages! Phil came back to the house with us on Sunday for a celebratory dinner...GUMBO!
We were so glad that Theresa, Kinsley, Kate, and PapaPhil could also join in the excitement. Thanks to all of you for making the treck!
Pics are forthcoming...there are some awesome ones!
And mom...the gumbo is GONE!
